About the Humans
Rev. Sarah Whitten-Grigsby, Founder & President – As an Interfaith minister, ordained in both New York and Florida, Rev. Sarah has a specialty in Animal Ministry, a deep and abiding love for all animals, and extensive experience caring for dogs. After being present with human loved ones during hospice and last breath, Rev. Sarah recognized that, in addition to her husband, during times of grief her dogs were a significant source of healing. And so ONE MORE DAY Foundation was born, out of Rev. Sarah’s desire to give back to dogs for all that they give to us. Rev. Sarah lives in Sarasota County, Florida, with her husband, three dogs and a cat.
Johanna Pfeiffer, Chairwoman of the Board - With a great love for dogs and an appreciation for what Sarah was doing for homeless hospice dogs, I began volunteering at One More Day Foundation in 2017, initially focused on fundraising. My own beloved dog had died suddenly that year and when I began to emerge from grief I could see that helping other dogs find loving last chapters could help ease both their sorrow and mine. I decided to help support Sarah find homes for dogs that have been abandoned late in life and with terminal illness. There is human healing in helping dogs receive loving care throughout their last breath, and all of us at ONE MORE DAY Foundation have experienced this. Of course, I too fell in love with a fospice dog named Ralph, and we live together with my husband and our Shepherd Sunny, in Charlotte County.
